does the price include any images?
The session fee covers the photography experience and includes our time and talent only. You may purchase images online when you are sent your gallery passcode, usually about 10 days after your session.
how long are family sessions?
Plan an hour for almost every family session. Some will take longer, some less time. Factors contributing to the session duration are the weather, and how happy and organized your family is to be there.
what time should we do our family session?
If we're on the beach, and typically we are....we recommend shooting as early in the morning as possible or just before sunset which is usually about 8:30pm Eastern time in summer.
Three reasons why this is the best option.
- lighting. no overhead sun to blind you. you want to leave with in tact retinas.
- heat. no one likes to sweat, but especially in pictures.
- crowds. IF you want the least amount and maybe no amount of people behind you, go before everyone else gets there.
how long does it take before we see our gallery?
It can take anywhere from only a few days to ten depending on the season. When they're ready, you will receive an email with your password to access the gallery.
what time zone are you on?
Whatever time we quote is always going to be "Michigan Time"....Eastern. Please keep that in mind when we schedule.
Pack Mule Syndrome
Dads, do you have pockets? You sure do. Do you have everyones things in your pockets? Usually. Today, don't. Leave it in the car or have someone carry a tote for all the phones, hair ties, sunglasses etc.
can you call me so we can chat about my session?
Absolutely! However, I'm in my office only one day a week for phone calls. Your question sent by text or email ensures a faster response.
how does it work when we have multiple families?
First, we'll start with everyone. Then after finishing the large group photos, we'll proceed with multiple variations of the group, including individual family portraits as well as cousins, grandkids, siblings, etc.
I wear transition lens glasses....
Since most people who wear glasses feel odd without them, as a solution - bring a back up pair, even cheap store bought replacements that look similar to your frames.
what should we wear?
A few things to consider when planning your session is, where will the images be used? What's the color palette in the room where the images might be hung? The most important things I can tell you when picking out outfits is
- Coordinate - don't "match"
- Neutral, muted, solid colors work best.
- Dress for the location. (don't wear heels to the beach)
- Make sure it fits, try everything on beforehand.
- Avoid pin stripes, plaid, neon, logos, tennis shoes, and bright white as if your life depends on it.
- Start with the basics, and build up. Pick one person in your group (typically mom) and coordinate outfits based on her.
how many images will we get?
Typically, each family session yields about 100 images, but there are no guarantees you won't have more or less. We choose the best images out of your session for your gallery.
